Description

It was agreed at the DataAccWG telecon 07/11/2007 that it is likely we will need templates per airmass, and if that is the case, we might consider generating templates on the fly. This has important implications, and needs to be better understood, especially since it is different from our current baseline.

Here are relevant notes from the aforementioned meeting:

  • input used to generate templates: corrected images at a given airmass
  • but that means we have to generate templates per airmass!
  • also, we should probably generate templates for each night
  • given that we can observe any place at any time in the night, this is a big problem, both from computing and from storage point of view. That affects both base camp and main archive.
  • Robert will document this issue and it will be discussed with Tim

Based on discussion at the DataAccWG telecon on July 18, 2008, we will need two versions of template images:

  • best seeing
  • best depth (average seeing)

I'm tempted to simply close this, but I'll defer it for discussion.
