Description

Are we going to keep one image file per amplifier, or per CCD? Should we align the image metadata in the database schema with the image file granularity?

Regardless of how we store the image files, the metadata intrinsically has groups of items that are specific to an amplifier ("ccd segment", in our current lexicon). Therefore, this metadata needs to be represented in the schema at the segment level as well. There also may be metadata at higher levels of the focalplane hierarchy (ccd, raft, FPA), and these may need to be represented as well.

I will add this to the list of items for the Camera-DM ICD
