LSST Accounts FAQ
To create an account, follow the procedure in Section Account Setup Process. All accounts are restricted to LSST collaborators; some are restricted to more limited groups. Some Trac resources, such as the Trac Twiki, are available without access authorization.
Account list:
EA UML
- Gatekeeper: Iain Goodenow
- What: gives you access to the UML model for LSST Data Management.
- Why: satisfy your interest in getting the big picture about the LSST DM project.
- Who: Everyone. Required by LSST DM developers.
Trac
- Gatekeeper: Iain Goodenow
- What: The account will permit you to create/edit the wiki as well as create/review tickets
- Why: To contribute to the project, you will need this!
- Who: Everyone. Required by LSST DM developers.
Docushare
- Gatekeeper: Iain Goodenow
- What: access to the archive of sanctified documents. Unlike Trac's wiki, these documents are not user modified.
- Why: satisfy your interest in getting detailed documentation on science goals, development goals, and even calendar info.
- Who: Everyone.
Mail List
- Gatekeeper: Iain Goodenow
- What: Membership to various mailing-lists.
- Why: Stay in the know.
- Who: Everyone. Different users will want to subscribe to diverse lists. Ask Iain for a run down of all the available mailing-lists
Subversion
- Gatekeeper: Iain Goodenow
- What: Access to the subversion repository hosted on svn.lsstcorp.org
- Why: Allows you to make changes to the code repository. If you just want to browse, you can use the public Browse Source feature of Trac
- Who: Developers - general
MySQL
- Gatekeeper: Jacek Becla, Kian-Tat Lim
- What: Access to the database hosted at NCSA. There is a communal test account, but you can also set up a personal account.
- Why: For testing database persistence/retrieval you may need to setup or inspect the database manually
- Who: Developers - persistence
NCSA Cluster
- Gatekeeper: David Gehrig
- What: Access to the NCSA cluster
- Why: For testing pipelines and pipeline components, you will need access to the cluster.
- Who: Developers - pipeline
EA SysML
- Gatekeeper: Iain Goodenow
- What: gives you access to the SysML model for the LSST project requirements.
- Why: satisfy your interest in getting the big picture about the LSST project.
- Who: LSST system engineering staff.
Account Setup Process
- Email the gatekeeper with the following information:
- First and last name
- Phone number
- Supervisor's name
- Preferred user name
- List all systems to which you need access.
- The gatekeeper will create the necessary accounts or s/he will forward the request to the appropriate person.
- The gatekeeper will return an email with the access information for your new accounts.
